Understanding Picture Story - TAT
- The TAT– Thematic Apperception Test, also known as the Picture Story Test, is a projective method for assessing a candidate’s personality.
- In this test a vouge/dull picture is shown to the candidates; who then give picture, its meaning, title, purpose and future course of action. In a way candidates reflect their inner story through a picture.
- Unlike intelligence tests, which have fixed answers, the TAT indirectly evaluates personality; with no fixed correct/incorrect answers. Through the interpretation of pictures, candidates unconsciously reveal their own abilities.
- In a broader sense, it serves as a way for candidates to showcase their personality traits to the external world.

انٹیلیجنس ٹیسٹس کے برعکس، جن کے فکس جوابات ہوتے ہیں، ٹی اے ٹی ، ٹیسٹ امیدوار کی شخصیت کا بالواسطہ طور پرجائزہ لیتا ہے؛ اس لئے اس ٹیسٹ میں کوئی فکس صحیح یا غلط جواب نہیں ہوتا۔ تصاویر کی تشریح کے ذریعے، امیدوار لاشعوری طور پر اپنی ذہنی و فکری صلاحیتوں کو ظاہر کرتے ہیں۔

The Rorschach test is a projective psychological test; devised in 1921 in which subjects’ perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex algorithms, or both. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning. The test is named after its creator, Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach.
TAT test (interpreting vague pictures) was devised by Henry Murray & Christiana De Morgan at Harvard University in 1930s.
