Introduction to this Book

Man’s Search for Meaning” is a book written in 1946 by Viktor Frankl is a 200 pages book. Man’s most puzzling question has always been, what is the meaning of his/her life? And; this book is one of the most popular read on finding one’s meaning of life. In this book author shares his personal experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps; which Jews suffered; during World War II. In this book, he also talks about his psychotherapeutic approach, which helps people find a purpose in life in three different ways: by completing tasks, caring for others, or finding meaning in the face of suffering with dignity. This is the story of author; how we found his meaning of life through suffering in those concentration camps.

Frankl noticed that in the concentration camps, those who survived had something to hold onto, a reason to stay strong. They would often imagine a purpose in their lives, like talking to a loved one in their thoughts. According to Frankl, this positive imagination about the future had a significant impact on how long someone could endure the harsh conditions in the camps. Viktor Frankl, who himself survived these terrible camps, helps us understand how prisoners coped with such unimaginable hardships. His experiences also laid the foundation for his psychological theory, known as logotherapy, which emphasizes the importance of finding personal meaning in life to not only thrive but, in extreme situations, to survive.

In this book, you’ll learn how to discover meaning in your own life, how the concentration camps drained hope from prisoners, and how some people managed to find humor even in the worst of situations. It’s important to remember that life in a Nazi concentration camp was incredibly challenging, and only survivors can truly appreciate what it was like. We can only try to imagine how people endured each day and maintained their sanity amid such horrific circumstances.
