1.  Salman was twice as old as Alyan 10 years back. How old is Alyan today if Salman will be 40 years old 10 years hence

(a) 18     (b) 25     (c) 15     (d) 20

 Reason:  Salman’s age today = 30 years.

Salman’s age 10 years back = 20 years.

Alyan’s age 10 years back = 10 years.

Alyan’s age today =20 year.

1.  Salman was twice as old as Alyan 10 years back. How old is Alyan today if Salman will be 40 years old 10 years hence

(a) 18

(b) 25

(c) 15

(d) 20

 Reason:  Salman’s age today = 30 years.

Salman’s age 10 years back = 20 years.

Alyan’s age 10 years back = 10 years.

Alyan’s age today =20 year.

2. In 10 years, A will be twice as old as B was 10 years ago. If A is now 9 years older than B, the present age of B is:

(a) 35     (b) 37     (c) 39     (d) 41

Reason:   Let B’s age = x years.

Then, A’s age = (x+ 9) years.

(x+9+10)=2(x—10)

Hence x=39; Present age of B = 39 year.

2. In 10 years, A will be twice as old as B was 10 years ago. If A is now 9 years older than B, the present age of B is:

(a) 35

(b) 37

(c) 39

(d) 41

Reason:   Let B’s age = x years.

Then, A’s age = (x+ 9) years.

(x+9+10)=2(x—10)

Hence x=39; Present age of B = 39 year.

3. Ten years ago A was half of B in age. If the ratio of their present ages is 3:4, what will be the total of their present ages?

(a) 30     (b) 35     (c) 37     (d) 41

Reason: Let A’s age 10 years ago = x years.

Then, B’s age 10 years ago = 2x years.

(x + 10) / (2x+ 10) = 3/4

=> x = 5.

So, the total of their present ages =(x + 10 + 2x + 10)

= (3x + 20) = (3×5 + 20) = 35 years.

3. Ten years ago A was half of B in age. If the ratio of their present ages is 3:4, what will be the total of their present ages?

(a) 30

(b) 35

(c) 37

(d) 41

Reason: Let A’s age 10 years ago = x years.

Then, B’s age 10 years ago = 2x years.

(x + 10) / (2x+ 10) = 3/4

=> x = 5.

So, the total of their present ages =(x + 10 + 2x + 10)

= (3x + 20) = (3×5 + 20) = 35 years.

4. Abdullah was thrice as old as Saqib 6 years back. Abdullah will be times as old as Saqib 6 years hence. How old is Saqib today?

(a) 12     (b) 16     (c) 18     (d) 24

Reason:  Let Saqib age 6 years back = x.

Then, Abdullah age 6 years back = 3x.

(5/3) * (X + 6 + 6) = (3X + 6 + 6)

So 5(x+ 12) = 3(3x+ 12),

So x=6.

Saqib  Age = (x+ 6) years = 12 years

4. Abdullah was thrice as old as Saqib 6 years back. Abdullah will be times as old as Saqib 6 years hence. How old is Saqib today?

(a) 12

(b) 16

(c) 18

(d) 24

Reason:  Let Saqib age 6 years back = x.

Then, Abdullah age 6 years back = 3x.

(5/3) * (X + 6 + 6) = (3X + 6 + 6)

So 5(x+ 12) = 3(3x+ 12),

So x=6.

Saqib  Age = (x+ 6) years = 12 years

5.  Six years ago, the ratio of the ages of Kamal and Saim was 6:5, Four years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 11:10. What is Saim age at present?

(a) 10 YEARS     (b) 12 YEARS     (c) 14 YEARS     (d) 16 YEARS

REASON: Let six years ago the age of Kamal and Saim are 6x and 5x

resp.

then,

=>(6x+6)+4 /(5x+6)+4=11/10

<=>10(6x+10)=11(5x+10)

<=>5x=10=>x=2

So Saim age is (5x+6) = (5×2+6) = 16.

5.  Six years ago, the ratio of the ages of Kamal and Saim was 6:5, Four years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 11:10. What is Saim age at present?

(a) 10 YEARS

(b) 12 YEARS

(c) 14 YEARS

(d) 16 YEARS

REASON: Let six years ago the age of Kamal and Saim are 6x and 5x

resp.

then,

=>(6x+6)+4 /(5x+6)+4=11/10

<=>10(6x+10)=11(5x+10)

<=>5x=10=>x=2

So Saim age is (5x+6) = (5×2+6) = 16.
