Step-7
World is Unjust

Let’s not beat around the bush: the world is full of problems and suffering. However, this doesn’t mean we should give up. Throughout history, some people thought life was so harsh that they believed there were only four ways to deal with it: being blissfully ignorant, seeking pleasure, giving up through suicide, or struggling on despite the difficulties.

One of these thinkers, Leo Tolstoy, felt that suicide was the most honest response, and he saw himself as weak for not choosing it. Some people took this to an extreme and did terrible things, like committing murder and then killing themselves. But no matter how tough life is, we shouldn’t blame the world. That’s what the sixth rule for life says: take responsibility for your own life before you judge the world.

Another Russian writer, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, showed that even in the harshest conditions, we can choose to reject cruelty. Despite fighting in World War II and being imprisoned in a Russian gulag where he found out he had cancer, he didn’t blame the world. He accepted his own role in supporting the system that imprisoned him and decided to make a positive impact. He wrote a book called “The Gulag Archipelago” to reveal the truth about the Soviet camps, which helped change people’s views about communism
