Step-13
Make Reliable Connection

Imagine you’re with a group of people, some of whom don’t like you. It might feel safe to build a fortress and hide from them. But in reality, isolating yourself like this is a bad idea because it cuts you off from power and influence. To gain power, you need to know what’s happening around you. Think about China in 220 BC. There was an emperor named Ch’i Shih Huang Ti, one of the most powerful people in the world. But he became paranoid, thinking others wanted to harm him. So he lived in a fancy palace with secret passages, and no one could see him.

If anyone saw him, they were killed. He traveled alone in disguise, and he died far from his family, friends, and court. Isolation doesn’t work. Instead, you should be around the people who help your power grow. A good example is Louis XIV, who lived in Versailles. He had noblemen in his chambers, and he stopped them from rebelling by keeping an eye on them and giving them privileges. They all wanted his attention and favor. In simple terms, it’s better to be around the right people than to hide in a fortress.
