Step-3
You are Medicine for Your Pain

Imagine you’re really good at living in the present and not worrying about the past or future. But what if you feel pain? How do you handle physical and emotional hurt when it happens in the present?

Pain happens when you don’t like how things are but feel powerless to change them. It’s like an inner resistance to things you can’t control. This makes you unhappy, and it feels like a negative emotion.

Because you think a lot about the past and future but can only live in the present, you can’t change some things that make you unhappy. This creates an inner resistance, which feels like pain.

Another kind of pain is the “pain-body,” a part of you that needs you to feel pain to survive. It grows stronger with every painful experience, making you feel miserable and sad.

This cycle can go on for a long time until the pain becomes a big part of you. You might even be scared to let it go because it feels like you’d be losing a part of yourself.

For example, when something makes you annoyed or frustrated, and you get angry, it’s your pain-body taking control. This anger makes it hard to think clearly and leads to more pain.

Even though it seems like pain comes from the outside world, most of it is self-created. The good news is, because you create it, you can do something about it – and you’ll learn how in the next part.
